Renovation Part I: Building a Complete New Studio

Written by ロナルド on . Posted in .

Five years ago I (we) bought this house. The house is about 325 years old. It was already empty for almost 2 years and before that a woman of 91 years old lived here. We bought the house from her niece and she told us that no one ever had been on the attic for the last 20 years. On the photos you’ll see the part where I also not yet have been!

My current very simple working space will be converted to a complete — but small — woodworking studio and the attic will be converted for the finer works such as 3D printing, painting, electronic works, a small working space for my paper art, etc.

I’m very fortunate to have a few retired neighbours who are going to help me realise my wishes, or actually I’m going to assist them. They are the real building craftsmen!

Here is a picture of the original barn before we moved in, five years ago:

This is the current working space:

And here is the attic, where no one has been for at least 25 years, except for my furry friends. They will lose their playgrounds.

I will make a series of news posts during this renovation.

またね (Until next time),
ロナルド
